Kind Bars-Larabar

hey :) i am from the uk and recovering from anorexia and i realllyyy wanted to try out lara and kind bars they look so yummy and a great way for me to build up my calories in a day... :) do you know if there is anywhere online i can purchess these bars from ? thanks :D xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hello (: Congrats on recovering! I’m happy for you! Maybe, hopefully, these websites will work for you! You can buy from The Better Health Store - Larabar or the larabarstore! They are in dollars here and I’m not sure if the larabar store has a UK based website so you don’t have to convert money, but probably not. If these websites do allow shipping to the UK, then the money should just automatically covert when you buy it. If not, just google “buy larabars online” or something along those lines (: If none of that works out, I’m sure they have something similar there that will work for you! read more..

Ibs

hey :) i have read that you have struggled with ibs, and i have too well i still am and it is awful :( what are the choices you made to change because the doctors are no help - i guess they dont really know what to do.... hope you can help me :) thanks xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hello! I would be glad to help. Sorry it’s taken a bit for me to get to this. After I first read this after you sent it (then I lost internet for a week), I had plans of starting a whole page dedicated to IBS and helping others with it. So keep a look out for that. I hope to get it up soon but I don’t want to spend a massive amount of time online like I used to. The first thing I did was start a food journal. Writing my meals down (and I wrote the time) and writing any problems I had after the meal help me to figure out what things caused me any pain or problems. Then I eliminated those things, for the most part. I’m also lactose intolerant so I had a lot of problems with dairy before I knew I was allergic to it. Don’t eat too much during meals, don’t eat a lot of ‘heavy’ foods during the morning and afternoon (I have my heavier meals during dinner), get plenty of fiber, avoid processed and junk foods, avoid carbonated drinks and I think caffeine, too. I drink tea, but coffee gives me problems as well. And definitely exercise. Exercise, especially core exercises, helped keep me regulated and keep the bloating down. Ibs effects us all differently so the foods I have problems with, you might not have such problems with. It takes time to figure it all out, but you get a closer hang of it. It’s definitely a struggle though. I also started taking probiotics, though I sometimes forget to, and they seem to help a bit. Also, I recommend not eating meat. As far as digestion goes, not eating meat helps with it a lot. A lot of people who stop eating meat say they don’t feel as constipated and they feel better in general. I hope this helps! read more..

Here ya go. (: I’ve been needing an updated progress photo for a while so once I’ve made the progress I want, I’ll post up a new one. read more..

Bicycle Crunches-Ab Workouts

Submission question:

“Hello, I follow your blog since weeks now, and it helps me a lot, so I wanted to thank you for that.I also wanted to ask you : how many abs should I do everyday to burn my fat in a month? the most I do the better, I know, but I wanted an idea… 10 minutes…500 abs…? thank you :)(and I know it won’t be perfect in a month, but I can try)”Hello! Of course, I’m glad to hear that it helps (: Just doing ab workouts won’t get you where you want to be. The way you eat matters a ton. An overall healthy lifestyle, really, is where you want to be. I’m sure you want abs for the summer, so here is my advice to you.Eat a mostly healthy diet, if you don’t already. Plenty of fruits and veggies, plenty of healthy fats and lean protein, plenty of water and it is okay to treat yourself, so have chocolate or a slice of cake if you please. I have healthy eating tips in the FAQ>Healthy eating for beginners. Second, your workout. Cardio + strength. Try warming up with cardio for 15-20 minutes. 10 if you’d like. It’s all up to you. Run, jog, bike, roller blade, swim, jump rope. For strength, your focus is your abs so always switch up your ab routine, and do a lot but not too many. If you don’t push your body, you won’t make improvements. The more you do push your body, the more progress that you make overall. Try doing 15-20 minutes, and if you don’t feel good about it, try another 10. Do a plank/forearm plank for as long as you can, bicycle crunches, reverse bicycle crunches, basic crunches, elevated crunches (I like to lay on my bed with legs down and my upper back sticking off enough for it to give me a workout, and do crunches that way), crunches with your legs up against a wall or on a chair, leg lifts (full or just a couple of inches to a foot off of the ground), Russian crunches, etc. I have ab workouts in the Index>workouts so you might find some good stuff in there! I also like hoola hooping because your core muscles are contracting as you move around and it’s fun. read more..

A couple of my friends and myself want to do a cleanse next month and I didn't know if you had any good ones to recommend? We're looking for something fairly easy to follow...I know you must get this question a lot but if you have any suggestions that would be very helpful! Thank you and I love your blog :)

We're looking for something fairly easy to follow...I know you must get this question a lot but if you have any suggestions that would be very helpful! Thank you and I love your blog :)

This is actually the first time I’ve gotten this question, so I have no idea how to answer it. I’ve never done any cleansing or anything. I just eat healthy, drink a lot of smoothies, and drink a lot of water. I’ve only really read into one, a 21-day Detox. The details are in the link, and in the link on the post. You might like it. I think you should just make sure that you aren’t fasting completely, lacking important nutrients, or not getting enough calories. I think detoxes and such are dumb when people do that. I hope this helps! Thank you (: read more..

School Lunches-Granola Bar-Weight Loss

I've changed my school lunches to salad with minimal dressing (vinaigrette) and some fruit from pb&j and a granola bar. I've been doing this for over a month. Why haven't I lost any weight?

That’s generally not enough to make a significant change in your weight. That is only one meal of the day, after all. It is a good start, though. You need a good healthy and balanced diet and exercise is important as well. While what you eat matters more, not exercising can cause your weight to stay the same or plateau in Weight Loss. Make sure you’re getting your daily fruits and veggies, lean meats, lots of water, green tea, cardio, weight resistance workouts. Remember to work out a few times a week if possible, always eat healthy and portioned, and always treat yourself. I have a health for beginners page (that needs updating) in my FAQ page if you need more help with that, and some workouts stuff in the Index page! read more..

Motivational Tool-Phases

Hi! I absolutely love using this blog as a learning resource, as well as a motivational tool. Please keep up the great work! I have a question regarding moving forward/pressing on - personally I go through 'phases' where I'm healthy and active, and then stop the activity and become sedentary and eat poorly. Right now I'm on the energy kick. Before I'm faced with the potential decline, can you reco

I know exactly how you feel! I don’t go through unhealthy eating kicks, but I go through (and am right now) not exercising phases. So this is a bit tough to answer. When you don’t feel like working out or are starting to get into the bad phase, just try to work through it and do a work out anyway. Don’t buy any bad food. Just think about how crappy it makes you feel and how truly disgusting it is. Since I’m in a similar boat, I really can’t think of anything else.If anyone has any idea’s or recommendations, put it in my ask so others can see too! (: read more..

Word Document-Food Journal

It's not dumb! I love keeping a food journal. I do mine on a word document though, I find it's neater and easier to fill everything out. You could try that if you find you really miss it? x

Oh, not that! I just think it’s dumb that I’m being dumb about it haha. I don’t miss it, it just feels weird not keeping it. I normally just write the date at the top, the time that I eat and scribble “sandwich” or something haha. read more..

Upper Body Strength-Flexibility-Pose

So i dont have a lot of upper body strength and im trying to change this, also i can do the wheel and was wondering what is a safe way to learn how to do it and also get back flexability to adventually also do the spcorpion i think its called, thanx love xx

My favorite pose for back flexibility is camel pose. If you can’t touch your heels without pain, just hold your hands on your back and hips and go as far as you can until you can go further, possibly during your next practice. When you come out of it, come out slow and do cat and cow pose after to stretch your back out a bit more. Cobra and upward facing dog are also two poses that will help gain a bit of back flexibility. A safe way to practice the wheel… once you get more flexibility, that pose will become easier. Just take it slowly. I think you can use yoga blocks as well for that pose!Push ups (girl push ups are fine, of course), tricep dips, and working with weights are some things that will help you gain upper body strength. Of course, you will also need core strength for inversions. Start off practicing forearm stands against the wall. That will help you gain a bit of strength as well, and will definitely help with balance. Once you have more back flexibility, you can try scorpion against the wall and continue to progress from there.I hope this helps! (: read more..

Weight Resistance

I'd like to lose fat in my legs - how would I go about doing this?

You can not target fat loss in specific area’s by doing any specific thing. A clean, healthy diet and exercise (cardio and weight resistance) is what you need to follow to lose weight. If you would like that in more detail, let me know. read more..

Global Climate Change-Lifestyle Change-Vegan

Hey ! For my end of the year final in my writing class I am writing a 20 page paper on the Yogi Lifestyle. Your blog is where a lot of my information is coming from. I wanted to know though, (if you don't mind) why you chose to be vegan, and how your life has changed since you made this lifestyle change. I would be quoting you in my paper if that is okay ? : )

Hey! Aw that is super cool! I am glad that my blog is able to provide you with some information and that you want me to be apart of it (:     Currently I am not full Vegan yet. I’m half-vegan I guess you could say since the only dairy I consume is in Morning Star patties, chocolate, and Ensure when I have them. I will transition to full vegan as soon as I feel I am ready. However, maybe my answer will be still be valid, so lets just say, for the purpose of your paper, that I am full vegan (if that works for you).     I chose this lifestyle for three reasons: For my health, for the animals, and for the planet. Everything that we do impacts not just ourselves but everything around us. Animal farming is the number one cause of global climate change, 99% of all land animals are used for factory farming (in which the the standards for ethical treatment continue to decline), and studies have proven that a vegetarian/vegan lifestyles are healthier for the body.      My life has vastly changed since making these dietary changes. My compassion, love, and respect for animals has grown further than I thought it could. You don’t realize how much love you have for another being until you stop putting it on your plate. It’s effected my body greatly as well. 60% of adults can not digest digest milk and most of them either don’t know it or choose not to make a healthier dietary change. Not consuming dairy has made such a huge impact on my body, especially being lactose intolerant. I can’t even begin to explain how much my digestive system has thanked me for not consuming dairy, and not eating meat has made my body feel “lighter”, more energetic, healthier, and much happier.      I hope this was okay? … and not too much. haha. If you would like anything else, ask away! (: read more..

Unkind Words-Inspiration

To Anon: Every body is different. What an ignorant comment to make, with such unkind words that should not have been applied. I'm sorry, Yogi-health, that you had to read such a comment. It upset me to read that and even more so to learn that it upset you quite a bit as well. You are an inspiration to many and your body just beams of great healthiness and fitness. :) Ignore comments like that beca

Aww thank you! This makes me happy (: I feel a lot better now, especially with the support that I have. If anything, I feel bad like I wrote a mean response to her or something. I just wish more people would understand a little better, at least that we are all different. read more..

Smoothie Recipes-Sun Salutations-Frozen Fruit-Almond Milk-Smoothies

hi deidre! i finally got my mom to buy frozen fruit for smoothies (she's convinced that fruits lose their nutrients when frozen) and i today i made the one you posted with berries, almond milk, banana, and spinach. she doesn't like berries or almond milk and she LOVED the smoothie i made. she was in shock when i told her what i'd put in them, and now she wants me to make smoothies all the time! ju

Show her this, it’ll change her mind. Reading this makes me want to come up with new smoothie recipes to try out and post. That is really cool to hear! Of course! I hope you’re doing well with yoga (: read more..

Thanks! But there isn't an order you should follow right? Positions you should do first??

I’m not too sure, but I don’t think so. If you are warming up with yoga before getting more into the poses, you should do sun salutations. In the book I suggested, towards the end of the book it gives you series of poses to do for specific things (like for runners) so you could always go off of that if you wanted. read more..

Health Knowledge-B12 Deficiency

me too! I was vegan for over a year, and the doctor suggested I start eating eggs again as my hair was thinning an awful lot, and I had a B12 deficiency. So I considered just going back vegetarian, but I cannot bring myself to consume dairy, I just find the thought of it so icky. I'm glad I've found someone else that shares my vego/dairy free diet haha yay! (my health/fitness blog is kellie-the-ve

Awe, that sucks. You could always just start taking b12 supplements. I think it takes a lot of health knowledge to go completely animal-free and be healthy. I’m glad to know someone else is like that too! (: Sometimes it seems so weird… Like when people ask about … I don’t just want to say I am without adding the details haha. read more..

Health Food Store-Agave Syrup-Soy Yogurt

plain soy yogurt is amazing over fruit with a little agave syrup on the top - just to let you know for when you try it out :D it was one of my favorite products when transitioning to non dairy :)

I’ve never tried agave syrup but I’ll have to see if Fresh and Easy or the health food store has it and try that. I’m going to write that down. Thanks! (: read more..
