HOW TO STILL LOSE POUNDS WHEN WEIGHT LOSS SUDDENLY STOPS AND FLAB IS JIGGLING: When you start a new weight loss program, especially if you have significant amount of weight to lose, the pounds often fall off rather easily the first few weeks. However as your journey progresses its common to hit a point where even though you're still exercising and dieting, the scale stops showing results. This is commonly referred to as a Weight Loss Plateau. There are a couple of different reasons why the scale isn’t budging. With a few tweaks to your routine, you’ll find that you can start losing weight again. Take a look at some of the most common reasons why you may not be losing weight:
1. YOU ARE UNDERESTIMATING THE CALORIES YOU EAT. When you start a diet, you’re probably quite strict about counting your calories. You may even use a scale or measuring cups to make sure that you are eating the right portion size. However, as time goes on, you tend to get less rigid, eyeballing portions instead of being accurate. This could be adding extra calories without you realizing it.
2. YOU ARE OVERESTIMATING THE CALORIES BURNED. If you’re following the calories burned guide on the exercise machine or relying on estimates from the internet, you may be overestimating how much you are burning when you work out. Get yourself a heart rate monitor that tracks calories and to make sure you’re working at your target heart rate. 3. YOU ARE NOT EATING ENOUGH. People who are more active need more calories just to survive. If you eat too few calories, your body thinks that it’s starving and it tends to hold on to the fat. The barest minimums are 1200 calories for women and 1800 for men. People that are larger, more active, or breastfeeding may require much more. . YOUR BODY IS IN A RUT. Our bodies are made to be efficient. If you’ve been doing the same exercise routine since you started a diet, your body may have adjusted to the activity, so that it’s not burning as many calories as when you first started. To remedy this, try switching to a different aerobic exercise, or increase your frequency, duration or intensity. If you’re weight training, try different exercises and be sure to increase the weights if the exercises are too easy.
5. YOU ARE LOSING FAT BUT GAINING MUSCLE. If you’re new to exercise (or getting back into it after a long layoff), you may be losing body fat but gaining muscle at the same time. I’ve had this happen to me several times. If this is the case, rejoice! That’s the holy grail of fat loss. How can you tell if you’re losing fat and gaining lean body mass? Track your body fat percentage over several weeks. You may see your weight staying the same but your body fat percentage dropping.
If you don’t think that any of these reasons apply to you, you may want to discuss your concerns with a Nutritionist. Be sure to keep a detailed log of your foods and activities so that your nutritionist can get a better idea of the whole picture.

School Lunches-Granola Bar-Weight Loss

I've changed my school lunches to salad with minimal dressing (vinaigrette) and some fruit from pb&j and a granola bar. I've been doing this for over a month. Why haven't I lost any weight?

That’s generally not enough to make a significant change in your weight. That is only one meal of the day, after all. It is a good start, though. You need a good healthy and balanced diet and exercise is important as well. While what you eat matters more, not exercising can cause your weight to stay the same or plateau in Weight Loss. Make sure you’re getting your daily fruits and veggies, lean meats, lots of water, green tea, cardio, weight resistance workouts. Remember to work out a few times a week if possible, always eat healthy and portioned, and always treat yourself. t-is-for-training:1.) As long as I exercise, I can eat anything I want. Exercise doesn’t constitute a free pass to excessively binge on unhealthy foods. You’ll be undoing all of the hard work that you put into your workout. Just encase you haven’t gotten the message yet; abs are also made in the kitchen. Think of your body as a car. You need to put fuel into your body just as you’d put fuel into a car. You wouldn’t put mud, garbage, and other yucky things into your car’s gas tank, would you? No, it wouldn’t run. So, don’t fill your body’s tank with poor food choices. Treat your body with the respect it deserves.2.) Salads are always the safest choice. Just because it has lettuce and vegetables doesn’t make it healthy! As long as you make the right choices, then yes, salads can be very nutritional. But, if you’re loading your salads with fried chicken, high fat cheeses and dressings, and mountains of croutons, then you might as well go for the burger and fries instead. In fact, some salads pack more calories than a burger and fries. Read about “The Worst Salads in America.” I rest my case.3.) Eating several mini meals is always better than eating a few larger meals. For some people, this is true, but everyone is different. The more meals you have, the more opportunities you have to lose self-control. Choose a plan that fits your needs and lifestyle. If you choose to have 3 meals per day, choose a small, healthy snack in between each meal to sufficiently hold you over. Try fruit and Greek yogurt, a small bowl of whole grain cereal, or carrots with a serving of hummus and whole grain crackers.4.) As long as it’s healthy, I can eat as much of it as I want. Calories still count no matter what you eat. Regardless, your caloric consumption should come from healthy foods, but this doesn’t constitute the excuse to eat larger quantities of these foods. A serving size is a serving size for a reason. For some people, they may need more, but we should all still be aware of what we’re putting into our bodies. For instance, all-natural nut butters are healthy, but it’s also a food that is high in fat (good fats) and calories. Therefore, you shouldn’t grab a spoon and eat the entire jar within one sitting or day.5.) Eating late at night will cause weight gain. A calorie is a calorie. It really doesn’t matter what time you consume them. What matters is how many calories you take in for the entire day. Just be careful because people tend to have snack attacks while watching prime time TV shows or a late night movie. Avoid mindless eating and portion your snack before you sit down.6.) Skipping meals is beneficial. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for a reason. It jump starts your metabolism and provides your body with sustained energy. So if you skip meals, you’re going to slow down your metabolism, feel sluggish, and more than likely, you may binge on more food later on in the day. And, if you begin the day with a healthy choices, you’ll probably want to continuously make healthy choices for each subsequent meal.7.) Carbohydrates are fattening. They will be if your carbohydrates primarily come from donuts, cake, white bread, mountains of pasta, and so forth. Carbs give us energy, but it’s all about choosing the best carbs available (ie. whole grains and fruit) and consuming the appropriate amount. Carbs should come from whole grains, beans, fruit, and veggies. With good carbs comes fiber and fiber has been known to aid in weight loss. Benefits of carbs.8.) Fast food and dining out should be avoided. Yes, this is true if you have the willpower of an ant, but all you really have to do is make the right choices. If you want success badly enough, you’ll make better choices. Plain and simple. Just plan ahead. Many restaurants post nutritional information and display healthier options on their websites. Don’t arrive overly hungry, nor skip every meal that day until you head out. That’s a recipe for disaster. Skip the fries an read more..

Bicycle Crunches-Weight Loss-Exercises-Thighs

Okay. So I am on anon because I am ashamed. I am so overweight its not funny. I'm fairly sure I am okay with my eating. It's my exercise, I really hate exercise in front of people and even in front of my family. My weight is mainly on my stomach and thighs, do you have any suggestions on what I can do? Alone, preferably? Thanks so much. :)

It’s okay to be anon. But I am not judging you and there are many people here who are on the same journey as you and they understand how you feel, none of us here are judging you As far as the Exercises go… You definitely can work out alone. Just make sure that the way and what you eat is really important in Weight Loss. You definitely should be sure that what you are eating is good for your body. If you have doubts, here are some tips. I do recommend doing cardio. So if you want to go on runs or jogs a few days a week, that would be great. If you truly are not ready to work out in front of people, you can do a few things alone. Jumping jacks and jumping rope will help get your heart rate up. Or do those jumping things where you bring each knee up to your chest. I forgot what they are called but if you need more info, I can find something. For Thighs, I always suggest lunges (or walking lunges rather than in place). If you really get into them and do enough, you will feel the burn the next morning. Squats, sitting against the wall, and chair pose will help burn those thighs too. There are some pilates videos focused on the thighs and I can find some of those for you. I also have thigh workouts in the Index of my blog on the Workouts page. That goes for abs too. For abs… Bicycle crunches, reverse crunches, bicycles and reverse bicycles (different from the crunches), flutter kicks, elbow to knee crunches, and Russian crunches (seated side twist) are really effective core work outs. Doing these slow and controlled add the burn and give for a better work out. Those are exercises that you can do in your room with nobody watching. Remember… cardio and really good eating! There are ways to help weight loss like drinking plenty of water, drinking green tea, and other ways.
