Hello (: Congrats on recovering! I’m happy for you! Maybe, hopefully, these websites will work for you! You can buy from The Better Health Store - Larabar or the larabarstore! They are in dollars here and I’m not sure if the larabar store has a UK based website so you don’t have to convert money, but probably not. If these websites do allow shipping to the UK, then the money should just automatically covert when you buy it. If not, just google “buy larabars online” or something along those lines (: If none of that works out, I’m sure they have something similar there that will work for you! read more..

Ibs
Hello! I would be glad to help. Sorry it’s taken a bit for me to get to this. After I first read this after you sent it (then I lost internet for a week), I had plans of starting a whole page dedicated to IBS and helping others with it. So keep a look out for that. I hope to get it up soon but I don’t want to spend a massive amount of time online like I used to. The first thing I did was start a food journal. Writing my meals down (and I wrote the time) and writing any problems I had after the meal help me to figure out what things caused me any pain or problems. Then I eliminated those things, for the most part. I’m also lactose intolerant so I had a lot of problems with dairy before I knew I was allergic to it. Don’t eat too much during meals, don’t eat a lot of ‘heavy’ foods during the morning and afternoon (I have my heavier meals during dinner), get plenty of fiber, avoid processed and junk foods, avoid carbonated drinks and I think caffeine, too. I drink tea, but coffee gives me problems as well. And definitely exercise. Exercise, especially core exercises, helped keep me regulated and keep the bloating down. Ibs effects us all differently so the foods I have problems with, you might not have such problems with. It takes time to figure it all out, but you get a closer hang of it. It’s definitely a struggle though. I also started taking probiotics, though I sometimes forget to, and they seem to help a bit. Also, I recommend not eating meat. As far as digestion goes, not eating meat helps with it a lot. A lot of people who stop eating meat say they don’t feel as constipated and they feel better in general. I hope this helps! read more..

Longevity Crown-Japanese Women
TOKYO (Reuters) - Japanese women lost their longevity crown last year after 26 years at the top of world life expectancy rankings, the government said on Thursday, blaming the 2011 earthquake and tsunami for the drop. The health and labor ministry said the disaster, which left nearly 20,000 dead or missing, was mainly behind a decline in average lifespan by 0.4 years to 85.90 years. That put Japanese women behind Hong Kong, in the top spot with 86.7 years. The ministry said a rise in the number of suicides last year also contributed to the decline. For men, average life expectancy fell 0. ... read more..

Boil Water Advisory-Hot Water Heaters-Bottled Water-Boiled Water
Ottawa Public Health (OPH) has issued a precautionary Boil Water Advisory until further notice for the water users serviced by the Carp communal well water system.Water users in the affected area are asked to bring their water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for all consumption purposes, including drinking, making juice, ice and infant formula, as well as for use in food preparation. After boiling, the water should be left to cool before being used, or it should be placed in clean containers to cool in the refrigerator. Boiled water should be used when brushing teeth. Boiled water should also be used to rinse dishes after washing. Other non-consumption uses, such as showering, are safe. This advisory is issued as a precaution and will be lifted once OPH can confirm that the results of sample analyses show the absence of bacteria in the water from the distribution system. If you are unable to boil water, you should consume only bottled water. How to use water safely during a boil water advisory:
- Boiled water should be used for drinking, making infant formula and juices, cooking, making ice, washing fruits and vegetables, and brushing teeth. The water should be brought to a rapid rolling boil and boiled for 1 minute. Discard all ice made previously and disinfect the ice cube trays. Make ice using boiled, cooled water.
- Adults and teens may shower with untreated water as long as no water is swallowed. Older children could also be given a shower with a hand held showerhead, avoiding the face. Younger children should be sponge-bathed instead of bathing in a tub because they are likely to swallow tub water.
- To disinfect hands, you can use alcohol-based hand disinfectants, containing more than 60% alcohol.
- Washing dishes: If washing by hand, you can use boiled water for washing dishes or boiled water for rinsing washed dishes, or use the disinfecting solution described below. If your dishwasher has a hot setting, it safely disinfects dishes. If your dishwasher does not have a hot setting, after finishing the cycle, soak dishes for 1 minute in a solution of 1oz (30 ml) of bleach mixed with 3 gallons of lukewarm water (13.5 litres). Let dishes air dry.
- Disinfecting after preparing/cooking with raw meat: Countertops, chopping boards or utensils which have come into contact with raw meat should be washed with soap and hot water first, then disinfected with a bleach solution stronger than that used for emergency hand disinfection. Mix 1/4 cup (about 60 ml) bleach in to 1 gallon (4.5 litres) water for this purpose. Do not reuse or store this solution, but make it fresh daily.
- Filtered water should also be brought to a rolling boil for 1 minute before drinking or using it for cooking.
- The water is not safe to use in wading pools. Water usually gets into the mouths of small children, providing a possibility for infection.

Corn Tortilla Chips-Crunchwrap Supreme-Taco Seasoning-Warm Tortilla
eating-healthy-rocks:I love Taco Bell, like mid day craving love it. Their Crunchwrap Supreme (second pic) is my all time favorite, but with 560 calories, 24g of fat, and over 1400mg sodium, it is just NOT on my good food list. THEN! I came across this! (the first pic). It is a Crunchwrap with only 210 calories, less than 5g of fat, and 25g or protein! Needless to say, I will be trying this! Here’s How!
1 La Tortilla Factory Whole Wheat Low-Carb/Low-Fat Tortilla; Large**
3 baked corn tortilla chips (like Guiltless Gourmet’s Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips)
1/3 cup frozen ground-beef-style soy crumbles (like Boca Ground Burger orMorningstar Farms Meal Starters Grillers Recipe Crumbles)
1/4 cup shredded fat-free cheddar cheese
1/4 cup shredded lettuce
1/3 tomato, diced
1 tbsp. fat-free sour cream
1/2 tsp. taco seasoning
Combine frozen soy crumbles, cheese and taco seasoning in a small microwave-safe bowl. Heat in microwave for 30 seconds. Warm tortilla for a few seconds in the microwave (making it easier to fold without ripping), and then lay it out on a flat surface. Place the soy crumble mixture in the center of the tortilla. Flatten the mixture into a circle, keeping it about 2 inches from the edge of the tortilla. Next, layer the tortilla chips on top of the soy crumble mixture. Evenly top with sour cream, lettuce and then tomato.FOLDING INSTRUCTIONS: Starting at the bottom of the tortilla, fold edge up to the center of the tortilla. Then going around the edge of the tortilla, repeatedly fold overlapping sections to meet the center, for a total of about 6 folds (until filling is completely enclosed). In a pan sprayed with nonstick spray, over medium heat, carefully place the folded tortilla in the center of the pan (folded side down). Heat for 3 - 4 minutes. Carefully flip the wrap with a spatula and heat for another 30 seconds. Enjoy! MAKES 1 SERVINGServing Size: 1 Crunchtastic Supreme (entire recipe)

Willpower-Ice Cream-Foods
healthylivingforyou:fitvillains:You might hear a lot about willpower, and some of you might believe that your ability (or inability) to stay away from bad food choices depends solely on how strong (or weak) your willpower is.That, my friends, is bullshit. While it’s true that some of us have more discipline than others, we are not superheroes. We are not buddhist monks. We are not masochists. Well, maybe some of you. But most of us are just people. And people are fallible. Real. We shouldn’t be expected to be on guard 24 hours a day without cracking at least a few times. And we shouldn’t feel badly about ourselves for doing so. I’ve learned how to resist bad foods in short spurts. I can opt for the salad, instead of the fries most days. I can buy an apple instead of a chocolate bar. I know that when I’m tired, my cravings can take over, so I fill myself up with healthy on-the-go foods so I won’t cave in. But at 11pm, when my body wants something sweet, you best be padlocking the freezer if there’s ice cream in there. It’s not just ice cream though. Bagels, butter, bacon, chocolate, chips etc. If those items are in my house, I will eat them. In fact, if they are there, they’re all I want to eat. My shiny apples look like crap next to them sometimes. That refreshing salad doesn’t feel nearly as right of a choice as it did when I made it. So I eat them. And eat them. Most ‘bad’ items don’t make it past a few days in my pantry: items, that if eaten in moderation should last me weeks. So how do I stay away from processed, sugary, high calorie, low nutrition foods?I keep them the hell away from my kitchen! My secret is not willpower. It’s knowing myself and preparing myself. I don’t do well in environments where I have to deny myself: where I have to constantly choose healthy over unhealthy in the spur of the moment. I have limited amounts of willpower and it saps my energy. I do better when the ONLY choice is a healthy choice. Studies show that putting ourselves in a cycle where we ‘feel’ deprived (where we feel as though we can’t have what’s within reach) is likely to lead to failure. We only have a certain amount of energy we can spend feeling deprived and having to make decisions. After that, we tend to go crazy, eating everything in sight. And, if you’re like most people, you feel guilty after. When you feel guilty, you feel off track. When you’re off track, it feels like your efforts have been in vain. When those efforts don’t ‘count’, eating those foods doesn’t feel so bad. You feel as though you’ve already failed, so what’s the harm in a complete sabotage?Sound familiar? We put too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect. We need to make life easier on ourselves instead.Read MoreREAD THIS. It’s fantastic. read more..

Beach Volleyball Tournament-30Th Anniversary-Ottawa
On Saturday July 14th, Ottawa’s Mooney’s Bay was the site of The HOPE Volleyball SummerFest - North America’s largest outdoor one-day beach volleyball tournament. This year was the 30th anniversary of an event that is all about giving back to the community by raising funds for charities in and around Ottawa. Attendees enjoyed a fantastic day of volleyball and live music all the while contributing to a great cause on this smoke-free site. Ottawa’s new smoke-free regulations now prohibits smoking on beaches such as Mooney’s Bay, in addition to parks, playgrounds, sports fields, ByWard and Parkdale Market stands and outdoor restaurant and bar patios and terraces. As of July 2nd, people smoking on these properties will be subject to receiving a ticket. Scientists see AIDS vaccine within reach after decades
CHICAGO (Reuters) - At an ill-fated press conference in 1984, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Margaret Heckler boldly predicted an effective AIDS vaccine would be available within just two years. But a string of failed attempts - punctuated by a 2007 trial in which a Merck vaccine appeared to make people more vulnerable to infection, not less - cast a shadow over AIDS vaccine research that has taken years to dispel. A 2009 clinical trial in Thailand was the first to show it was possible to prevent HIV infection in humans. ... read more..

Caffeine In Coffee-Coffee Drinkers-Cup Of Coffee-Oolong Tea
thefitty:
Why Coffee & Tea Are Amazing for You
There’s nothing like a hot Cup Of Coffee or tea to start the day. Some may go as far as to say they can’t function without their daily dose of caffeine! While some studies celebrate these beverages, others claim they’re bad for us. So should you toss your favorite drink or ignore the naysayers? Let’s find out.Coffee vs. Tea
There are 80-185 milligrams of caffeine per cup of coffee versus 15-70 mg of caffeine per cup in tea. Coffee comes from the berries of an evergreen plant and tea comes from a variety of plant leaves. But how much do we actually drink? 52 percent (or 100 million) American adults drink coffee daily. The average coffee drinker has 3.1 cups per day, or 70 gallons a year, enough to fill a bathtub. 30 percent of coffee drinkers enjoy specialty drinks like lattes and cappuccinos.274 million pounds of tea were imported in 2010, the same as a large cruise ship. The average American drinks 155 cups of tea annually, or 10 gallons a year. 78 percent of tea consumed globally is black, which is preferred by North Americans. 20 percent is green and 2 percent is oolong.Health Benefits of Tea
There are so many different types of tea that you’ve probably heard some are good for you and some aren’t. Studies on rat fat cells shot that brewed tea of any kind increases insulin activity by up to 15 times. Green tea is full of antioxidants that may help prevent many forms of cancer, including breast, lunch, and stomach. Green tea may also help prevent arterial clogging and reduce the risk of stroke. Green tea might also reduce neurological damage due to oxidation, which in turn prevents Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. It can burn fat and improve cholesterol levels.Ninety percent of tea consumed in the U.S. is black. It is made from fermented leaves and is the highest in caffeine. Due to the fermentation process, black tea is lowest in monomeric catechins, which have been linked to cancer prevention. This tea may protect you from have a stroke or developing heart disease by helping blood vessels dilate correctly. It has also been linked to preventing lung damage from smoking.White tea is unfermented and made from young buds and leaves. It offers the most powerful antioxidants of all the teas.Oolong tea has many different forms, which is fermented and may prevent weight gain and promote weight loss. It may also help to prevent tooth decay.Health Benefits of Coffee
Chances are, you’ve heard ideas like coffee will stunt your growth or give you heart disease or stomach cancer, but fortunately, none of these are true. In fact, it can actually be good for you. Coffee has been linked to improved memory recall. It may also help prevent Alzheimer’s, heart disease, gout, type 2 diabetes, and Parkinson’s.The caffeine in coffee can help ease asthma attacks. Coffee drinkers are 50 percent less likely to get liver cancer than those who avoid the beverage, though the exact reason has not been pinpointed. It may also lower the risk of breast, rectal, and colon cancers. Caffeine can increase energy expenditure (calorie burning). One study showed that those drinking caffeinated liquids burned 67 calories more than those who drank water, the equivalent of a medium-sized apple.Too Much Caffeine?
While a little caffeine can be good for you and help keep you awake, too much isn’t a good idea. It may cause restlessness, insomnia, and anxiety. Experts recommend limiting your daily caffeine intake to 400 mg for men and 300 mg for women. That’s roughly 4 cups of coffee/6 cups of tea for men and 3 cups of coffee/4 cups of tea for women.Caffeine provides many healthy benefits, too. It helps increase endurance during workouts and may blunt pain and tiredness, letting you work out longer. It may enhance muscular contractions during exercise. As with any health advice, people should drink coffee and tea in moderation, as too much of a good thing can be…well, dan read more..Feminine Hygiene Products-Menopause

Child Passenger Safety-Car Seat Inspection-Car Seat Safety-Child Car Seat-Car Seats
Ottawa Public Health (OPH) and its partners are working together to improve car seat safety for children in Ottawa. Every year, staff from OPH and the Ottawa Police Services conduct roadside car seat checks throughout the city. In 2011, these roadside checks revealed that, two out of every three children were not properly secured in their car seat. This is concerning because car crashes are the number one cause of death for children in Canada and one of the leading causes of injury in Ottawa. When children are properly fitted in a car seat, the risk of death or serious injury goes down by almost 75 per cent. It is the law for drivers to make sure that their child is properly secured in a car seat, booster seat or seatbelt. This year, OPH launched the A1 Secure campaign with the goal of giving parents and caregivers access to more car seat inspection clinics as well as practical and easy to remember information on how to properly secure children in car seats. With the help of S.E.A.T.S. for Kids Canada, a local organization that offers free car seat inspection clinics, the number of car seat inspection clinics has doubled. Please follow these three quick steps to make sure your child passenger is secured.Step 1:Armpit level for harness chest clip.Step 2:1 Finger space only between harness straps and the child’s chest. Step 3:Secure child car seat to vehicle according to thechild car seat user guide. For more information on child passenger safety and child car seat installation videos visit www.a1secure.ca To find out where to go to have your child’s car seat inspected visit www.seatsforkidscanada.com or call Ottawa Public Health Information at 613-580-6744 read more..
