claireruns:I am so fucking sick of seeing comments like “if you want to get me interested in this ad, show me a REAL MAN” (targeted towards a man who was very slender - tell me exactly, what is a “real man”?) or “she looks anorexic” (targeted towards a small fashion business where the models often read and reply to comments/questions) or “yuck, she’s too fat to wear that” (since when did you have to be a certain size to wear a skirt?).Ugh. No.I report every single one of them.I know Facebook probably do nothing but it makes me feel better.People keep complaining about the state of our mental health and body image. And yet comments like these are completely the norm. They’re promoting the ideals the media has pressured upon them and, most likely subconsciously, are giving into them. Believing that the images we see on TV are supposedly a reality. We’ve been exposed for so long to a society that openly judges another person’s body that people do it without thought. People don’t stop to consider how they could potentially be hurting someone’s feelings. It upsets me beyond belief.I agree completely! My friend is a fashion photog and tags the models in her photos, and sometimes people comment things about their bodies looking ugly and too skinny and how they need to eat (and obviously they DO eat) and it’s so frustrating… like, hello, they see these comments. A long while back a guy I knew was making such rude comments and I was so pissed, I commented after each of his (he felt the need to comment on many photos only pointing out the flaws of her body) telling him off about it. This stuff heats me up, too. We’re all real. We are human beings. We have feelings. read more..
